The historical journey, tradition, and social background of the Panchayat

A Glimpse into History: The exemplary endeavors of the Panchayat's first President, Mr. Antony Nadar, and freedom fighter Mr. Gandhivilasam Krishnan Nair contributed significantly to the region's social progress. The Panchayat office is located at a place called Therivila in the Virali area of Kulathoor Village.

⛰️ Kodithookikkunnu and its Historical Significance

Since the time of the Portuguese, foreigners used this area as a health resort/hill station. It is said that a large flag was hosted on a nearby tall hill to send signals to sailing ships anchoring at Poovar, which was a small port back then. Due to this, the prominent hill came to be known as 'Kodithookikkunnu' (Flag Hoisting Hill). Looking out from the peak of Kodithookikkunnu, the panoramic natural views in all four directions amaze any visitor. To the west of the river lies several areas of Poovar that earned a place in history by granting refuge to Raja Kesavadas and King Marthanda Varma during their journeys.
